Dr. Marcus Pimpleton has been selected as the new principal for The Center School.

I am pleased to announce that Dr. Marcus Pimpleton has been selected as the new principal for The Center School. Dr. Pimpleton currently serves as principal at Mariner High School in Everett and was selected through a formal process with the participation of staff and families.  

Dr. Pimpleton earned his Doctor of Education, Master of Education and Bachelor of Arts degrees at the University of Washington. In addition to his tenure at Mariner, his prior leadership experience includes serving as an Executive Director of Secondary Schools in Marysville; Executive Director, Racial and Educational Justice at Yakima School District; and Principal at Quincy High School in Quincy, WA. Additionally, he served as assistant principal at Denny International Middle School in Seattle and Interlake High School in Bellevue. In each role, his leadership reflects a commitment to equity-centered and culturally sustaining practices, and the promotion of relevant, rigorous and culturally responsive learning experiences so that every student graduates ready to excel in college, career, community and life. 

Outside of his role as a school leader, Dr. Pimpleton serves as the Program Coordinator and Director for Seattle Schools All-City Marching Band and as Husky Marching Band Field Assistant Director at the University of Washington. 

Dr. Pimpleton is committed to building on the strong foundation Dr. Casey and The Center School staff have created. He is looking forward to collaborating with The Center School students, staff, families and community members to continue to deliver on the school’s mission and approach to student-centered, arts-focused, experiential learning.  

Dr. Pimpleton’s official start date will be July 1. 

I want to extend my gratitude to Dr. Casey for her leadership as principal at The Center School and for her many years of dedicated service to Seattle Public Schools.
