    Microsoft High School Summer Internship (PAID)

    Starting January, Microsoft High School Internship is open to current senior high school students that live within 50 miles of Redmond, Washington who have a demonstrated interest in technology. Students must be at least 16 years old and have a legal right to work in the U.S. for the duration of the internship.     Young Scholars Program - REACH 2021 Summer Program 

    The Center for Neurotechnology (CNT) at the University of Washington sponsors a five-day “YSP-REACH” program on the Seattle Campus during the summer. The goal is to provide students with exposure to the field of neural engineering and provide basic preparation for college studies in STEM subjects as well as future STEM careers. High school students receive an introduction to neuroscience and neural engineering, neuroethics, scientific communication, and the latest developments in brain-computer interfaces.

    Due to COVID-19 health and safety concerns, the 2020 YSP-REACH program was offered online only. We hope to provide an in-person YSP-REACH program in 2021.  The planned dates for summer 2021 are August 2-6, 2021.  If the program is held in-person, the cost will be $500/student; if the program is held online, the cost will be $100/student.  Scholarships to cover the costs for some students will be availabl

    Bank of America Student Leader Program for Juniors and Seniors (PAID Internship)

    Since 2004, Student Leaders has been part of our ongoing commitment to youth employment and economic mobility. Preparing a diverse pipeline of community-minded young students with the leadership training they need to be successful in the workforce is vital to our approach to responsible growth and helps to build thriving communities. Every year, through our Student Leaders program we help connect 225 community-minded high school juniors and seniors to employment, skills development, and service. 

    They're awarded paid summer internships with local nonprofits such as Boys and Girls Clubs of America and Habitat for Humanity and participate in a national leadership summit in Washington, D.C. The Student Leaders Summit focuses on skill-building and creating a more civically engaged society.     Cultural& Creative Workforce Development Internships (PAID)
    Northwest Folklife, in collaboration with the Office of Economic Development and the Office of Arts and Culture, has developed a pilot internship program that provides paid internships for Seattle’s young creatives. Internships are catered for youth ages 16-25 from a variety of Seattle communities. These internships range between 12-24 weeks long and give youth hands-on training in various creative fields. Interns will work 12-14 hours weekly at their internship sites, and 1-2 hours with Northwest Folklife.

    TEENS IN PUBLIC SERVICETeens in Public Service Internship

    Teens In Public Service is a not-for-profit dedicated to developing future leaders committed to their communities. TIPS selects teenage leaders for paid community service internships and pairs them with charitable organizations over the summer.

    Through our Summer Internship Program, TIPS provides paid summer internships for enrolled, high school youth at local nonprofit organizations. These internships offer teens practical work experience, an understanding of ethical leadership, and a venue to put their values into action; and, our nonprofits gain additional staff during the summer months, at no cost to their organizations.     FREE 18-week career-connected learning program for BIPOC* students interested in creative career fields. This creative cohort will combine photography, graphic design, and creative direction with mock interviews, portfolio development, and more. Youth in Focus is partnering with Seattle-based outdoor recreation retailer, Evo, to complete professional projects and provide hands-on experience with professionals in the industry.

    • Open to 8 BIPOC students aged 15-19.
    • Participating students receive a $1,200 stipend and all materials/equipment are provided during the program including a camera, laptop, and digital editing software

    The Rainier Beach Youth Stewards program, a program of Tilth Alliance works with young people to restore the wetlands at the Rainier Beach Urban Farm and Wetlands. Youth aged 14-18 will participate in aspects of a farm operation, learn wetland restoration skills and practices at RBUFW and other sites, and build relationships with peers, adult staff, and volunteers.     Fred Hutch Summer Internships

    High school students are welcome to apply for an 8 week, paid summer research internship at Fred Hutch. The Hutch has an international reputation for its pioneering research in biological sciences, bone marrow and stem cell transplantation, cancer prevention, epidemiology, and biostatistics.
    Selected interns will spend 1 full week in training. This includes hands-on training in laboratory safety techniques and skills in our Training Labs, designated safe labs for minors. Interns will then be paired and matched to a host mentor who will supervise them over the remaining 7 weeks on specific projects or activities in the host lab. Interns also attend weekly workshops and seminars. The internship culminates with a reflection presentation during the final week.  Applications open February 1, 2020 and close March 31, 2020.

    Discovery Corps Internship - Pacific Science Center 

    Discovery Corps consists of a system of training and assessment leading to increased levels of responsibility, pay, and skill. Pacific Science Center looks for motivated youth ages 14 and older who are interested in gaining job and life skills while volunteering and working to provide Pacific Science Center’s guests a unique and interactive experience.

    Once a youth has completed approximately 100 hours of service-learning, including training, as a volunteer, he/she will be assessed on skills and performance. If expectations have been met, he/she may be promoted into a paid position (assessment periods and new hiring sessions will vary depending on staffing and the youth’s volunteer schedule). This promotion includes increased responsibilities and more available training to assist with the continued development of skills. Paid youth can continue to work towards further promotions within the structure of the program.

    Discovery Corps is designed to support youth from the time they enter the program until they graduate from high school or an academically equivalent program. Youth learn job skills and are exposed to numerous aspects of science, math, and technology which will hopefully inspire them to pursue careers in these fields. Applications for the May session are due on April 4th, 2020.
